About Steven

Steven Rogers is an emerging Australian children’s book author, specialising in rhyming picture books. He developed a love of rhyming stories while reading to his young daughter. Steven was inspired to write his debut picture book (Cuddle Kitty: A Tail of Friendship) as a way to help his daughter play more gently with the family cats.

Some fun facts about me:

• I have two cats, their names are Heidi and Cleo. I chose Cleo to be the feline protagonist of Cuddle Kitty due to her sweet nature and love of cuddles. Heidi is also a sweet girl, and she makes a cameo appearance in Cuddle Kitty.
• Some of my favourite children’s books are Room on the Broom, Possum Magic, and Guess How Much I Love You.
• My favourite children’s author is Julia Donaldson. My love of Julia’s work played a key role in my decision to make Cuddle Kitty a rhyming book.
• I was born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, where I lived for nearly 30 years. I currently live in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia.
• Writing has been an amazing creative outlet for me, and while I don’t have any literary qualifications, I am keen to keep writing.
